Do all roads lead to heaven?
One Saturday when my brother was nine and I was a teenager, we took a trip to Chicago with my mother and sister. We were heading to the Museum of Science and Industry.
Mom and I were in the front seat of the car talking, but my brother wouldn’t stop talking loudly from the back seat. So eventually, we just tuned out whatever he said.
Somewhere along the way, he was looking at an atlas when he abruptly shouted, “You’re going the wrong way! You should have turned back there!”
We told him to pipe down because we already knew which way to go. But after a while, we all looked up and saw a big blue sign that said, “Welcome to Michigan!”
Apparently, all roads don’t lead to Chicago, do they? We couldn’t believe how far off track we were!
Non-Christians sometimes say they believe that all roads lead to heaven. Some back it up by saying that everyone will go to heaven, as long as they’re not “a bad person.” Others say that it doesn’t matter what you believe, as long as you just believe in “God”.
But according to the Pew Research Center, 80% of Christian adults in America also believe that “all roads lead to heaven".
Do you have alarm bells going off in your mind like I do?
Whenever non-Christians ask about spiritual matters, how can they learn the Truth if even Christians tell them that it doesn’t matter what they believe because everyone is going to heaven?
Let’s look at what the Bible says:
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. -John 3:16
Jesus said… “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me. -John 14:6
Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is narrow and the way is constricted that leads to life, and there are few who find it. -Matthew 7:13-14
When Peter was talking about Jesus, he said:
“…there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.” -Acts 4:12
There is only One road that leads to heaven: JESUS.
He is the way.
Christians need to tell people that Jesus died on the cross to forgive their sins, then came back to life from the dead. When they place their faith in Jesus, they will find themselves on the one and only road that leads them to heaven.
